Abstract

Enterprises no longer compete on the strength of a single system. They compete on how quickly trustworthy data moves from a transaction to a decision, and increasingly to an automated action. This article argues that SAP S/4HANA, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), and Microsoft Azure form a complementary stack for that purpose. S/4HANA provides the intelligent transactional core, SAC turns that core into planning and decision intelligence, and Azure supplies elastic infrastructure, data engineering, and artificial intelligence (AI) services at scale. Drawing on research into ERP modernization, cloud architecture, event-driven processing, large language model (LLM) integration, and cloud resilience, the article proposes a layered reference architecture, describes high-value AI use cases, and sets out the governance, security, and continuity practices needed to run such a landscape. It closes with a phased roadmap for organizations moving from legacy ERP toward an AI-driven intelligent enterprise.
